Drying Coats

To preserve the fibres in the microfibre and to ensure that they continue to work effectively to absorb moisture please observe the following:

Your drying coat can be washed in a washing machine at temperatures up to 40 degrees celcius.
Only use non-biological powders/liquids. Do not use fabric conditioners or softeners, or dual action tablets.

Air drying is preferable for microfibre, and you will find that your drying coat will dry relatively quickly if hung up.

Tumble drying is not recommended.

Waterproof Coats

To prolong the life of your waterproof coat, wash it as little as possible as each time the coat is washed it shortens the life of the waterproof coating and seam tape.

It is preferable to lightly wipe off the dirt with a damp cloth, or fill a bucket with cold water and slosh the coat around to remove the dirt and then allow to air dry. Do not wring or squeeze your coat.

If you do need to wash it, use a technical wash solution such as Nikwax Tech Wash, or wash on a water cycle only ensuring the machine is clean of all detergents by running an empty rinse cycle first. Do not use fabric conditioners or softeners as the chemicals can break down the composition of the fibres with each wash and strip the coat of its waterproof coating.

If you notice that the fabric of your coat is absorbing rather than repelling water, you may wish to reproof your coat with performance proofers like those produced by Nikwax or Grangers.

Cooling Vests

The vest can be stored wet for short periods of time in the plastic bag provided, for example if you are going out for the day. However, do not store your vest in the plastic bag for a long period of time as mildew may occur.

When not in use, fold the vest up while wet, and it will become dry and hard and then can be safely stored away.

DO NOT try and unfold it is hard and dry as it may tear. Instead when you are ready to use it again, rewet it by soaking it in a sink or bucket and it will become soft and supple again and can then be unfolded.

If required, the vest can be machine washed at 30 degrees celcius or hand rinsed in cool water. Only use non-biological powders/liquids. Do not use fabric conditioners or softeners, or dual action tablets.

Fleece Coats

Your fleece coat can be washed in a washing machine at temperatures up to 40 degrees celcius.

Only use non-biological powders/liquids. Do not use fabric conditioners or softeners, or dual action tablets.

Your fleece coat can be tumble dried on a low or no heat setting, but air drying is preferable.

Waxed Cotton Jackets

It is recommended that you wash your waxed cotton jacket as little as possible.

It is preferable to lightly wipe off the dirt with a damp sponge and then allow to air dry. Do not wring or squeeze your coat.

Should you require to wash your waxed jacket, it can be washed in the washing machine at 30 degrees. Do not use fabric conditioners or softeners.

Washing over time will lessen the waterproofing of the fabric but your jacket can be reproofed using waxed cotton reproofing products.

The appearance of the waxed cotton will change over the years as it creases and patinas, but this is part of the character of waxed cotton, and is it’s durability and longevity as a fabric.
